Calligraphy or ''beautiful writing'' as it is translated, is a means of expressing the emotion and evoking the mood of a word or phrase with strokes, flourishes, and even colors. In this book, We introduce you to this thriving art form by giving you a firm grounding in traditional styles of broad pen calligraphy, which will serve as a spring board for you own exploration of letterforms and expressive writing. We define several historical alphabet styles that are made with the broad pen from the stately black letter hand to the graceful italic style. We also provide the sequence and direction of each letter stroke, as well as helpful notes and the suggested nib type for each hand.
